Free Guide to Summer Exposures

Summer is a great time to do some parent-led exposure therapy. Parents usually spend more time with their children in the summer so it is easier to make exposures a part of the daily routine. Plus, if your child is out of school for the summer they won’t have all those opportunities at school to practice brave speaking; you will have to create them! Chances are that you already take your child along with you to shop, eat out, and run errands. You can turn all of those outings into exposures with proper planning.

Even if your child is doing exposure therapy with their psychologist or therapist, or at an intensive camp, you can extend the skills they are working on to more locations and people. Best of all, this method can be adapted to whatever stage your child is at, even if they are not speaking a word yet!

I have created a guide to help you make your child’s summer full of progress. I have used this method with my own 2 daughters who have selective mutism and I’m excited to share it with you. This guide is for parents who have experience doing exposures with their children, as well as those who just found out their child has SM and don’t know quite where to start.
